Konsole minimize & maximize

Hallo,

With xterm i can rezise xterm on the cli with minimi(s)ze and maximi(s)ze.
I can't find an keyboard option in Konsole, to do the same as in xterm.

Maybe someone can give me a clue?

In the konsole handbook and http://konsole.kde.org i can't find anything that match with this.
Also konsole --vt_sz 45 x12 don't change anything.

Thx, for your help.

konsole 1.4
kde 3.3.0
SuSE 9.1 pro

in konsole you can use the Settings menu and choose Size to choose the size of the terminal you want and then Save as Default on the same menu

dont understand. konsole is a gui program, you can set it up to your liking and save as default setup. then everytime you launch konsole either via icon or run command line, it opens the same

maybe konsole just cant do this for the fact that you can set it up with the Settings menu

You might be looking for the general kde keyboard shortcute. In the Control Center | Accessibility | Keyboard Shortcuts (or some such variant) you can find Maximize, Minimize, and many others. This would apply to many more windows than just Konqueror. Maybe that would be an added bonus.

Thanks Epte.
The "Keyboard Shortcuts" will do the job i think.
I shall see if the docs.kde.org site provide some more info about this.

Something like this:

Kmenu -> Control Center -> Regional & Accessibility -> Keyboard Shortcuts
Tab -> Global Shortcuts.
Here you can see a list of key bindings.
Scroll down to +Windows - select Resize Windows

Than go to -> Shortcut for Selected Action
If this option is selected you can create a customized key binding for the selected action using the buttons below.

Select -> custom you see now a new screen
Select -> Primary shortcut -> type for example ALT + F6
Apply.

When in Konsole you type ALT + F6 you can resize konsole with the cursor keys.

why do that? that is silly, you can just move your mouse pointer to the corner of the konsole window and do the same thing.

i just dont get this i guess, if you need to resize your konsole window on the fly, why not just make it bigger to begin with? are you typing so much that you cant move your hand to your mouse and resize the window (which is probably faster than using the cursor keys on the keyboard after pressing an awkward key sequence like alt-F6)

just trying to understand why this would be needed

For me, personally, sometimes I like to do my computing in a lazyboy, with the keyboard on my lap. It's then very awkward to go back and forth from keyboard to mouse.

Also, I find that my posture is significantly worse (important for someone with a bad back) when I have to use the mouse a lot (even when not in the lazyboy) and so I try to avoid using the mouse in general.

And it isn't that much slower if you get used to it. Often times window managers are quite smart about things like this. For instance, I think you can hold down Shift+Arrow or Ctrl+Arrow to change the speed with which the window resizes.

And if you jiggle your mouse cord out of its socket, on some computers the mouse won't work again until you restart X (when you logout). Sometimes this is impractical (say you're in the middle of some project and have 10 windows you'd have to log back into). It's nice to have a functional alternative. (For those interested, it is possible to do mouse emulation with the keyboard. In Mandrake KDE, it is by default Alt-F12 to enter emulation mode).

You didn't sound rude to me. You just sounded like you weren't coming from my perspective. :)

And I didn't mean to sound insistent. I just have many reasons for liking kb support. :D
