Annoying: desktop jumping when window created

Hi,

I would greatly appreciate it if someone could tell me how to disable the following kdesktop "feature": when a new window is created, I get switched to that desktop.

The problem is this:
I have 6 desktops, and need them all. There is one graphical-user-interface- (GUI-) based application that I run in one. Since it takes a long time, I switch to a different desktop to work on a completely unrelated, but important, file. When the first application finally comes up/creates a new window, I am switched to its desktop. This is very annoying, and could be dangerous: imagine that I could be typing away in the second application, and the first application happens to be keyboard-controlled! I'm lucky it's not the case.

Sincerely,

William

Focus changes are KWin stuff.
Which KDE version are you using?

Strange.
I am running 3.1.4 and I have this problem only when the upcoming window is an error message box or something similar, not on normal windows.

Anyway, I think KWin from 3.2 has a setting called "focus theft prevention" which can be adjusted in levels to get a behaviour one likes.
