KDE 3.1.94 Splash can't change.

In the look & feel section where you can change splash screens, I can't change my splashscreen. I can select what to change to and actually preview the splashscreen, but the apply buton remains greyed-out. Any thoughs? I'd really like to get that KDE group photo splashscreen out of there!

Interesting :) I too have kde-3.1.94 fedora rpms installed on my redhat-9.0 machine, but never noticed it. After I read your post, I checked my kcontrol and saw the same situation. Unable to select a splash screen. Anywayz, kde-3.2 is out (fedora rpms available).. let us see if this is fixed in the new one.

For the time being, if you have your splash screen (the group photo) in the proper setup (I mean, if it is a valid splash screen theme - check out /usr/share/apps/ksplash/Themes/BlueCurve/), then unpack the files into ~/.kde/share/apps/ksplash/Themes/your_splash/

Then, edit ~/.kde/share/config/ksplashrc to include these two lines:
---------begin-----------
[KSplash]
Theme=your_splash
-----------end-----------

it was corrected on the kde 3.2 RC1, I don't think they have broken it in the final release ;)

Yup. I installed kde-3.2 this morning and things are fine now! Better too.. there is a new splash theme called "standard", which has icons jumping up and down instead of the old flashing ones :shock: :D

Yeppers, I updated to 3.2 and it seems to work fine. No more silly group photo (yaaaaay). I really dig the bouncy icons...who says eye candy isn't fun?
