Icon troubleshooting

Im having trouble with the icons in KDE3.1

there is a large gap between the icon image and the text underneath it.

If I reset or change the icons or their size, they will look as they should,
with the icon and text right next to each other.

but if I re-login the icons go back to the setting with the same gap.

It is happening in one profile but not in others.

Does anyone know how to fix this or where I can find the settings for the Icons?

------UPDATE-------

I just set the icons to a new theme.
it resulted in a large icon. and the icons were close to the text.

then I re-login and the icons shrink down to the smaller default size, with the gap.

When I try to click and drag an Icon there is the box outline that comes out, it is
the same size as the larger icon but inside is the smaller icon in the upper left
corner.

so it seems that the icon is set for the large size but it is loading the smaller icon.

Weird how it got this way, any ideas?

should I reinstall some part of KDE to restore default settings?

:D ---UPDATE UPDATE ---- :D

Problem is fixed.

Login as root

The problem was in the /usr/share/icons folder

go into the theme directory that you are using.

open up the index.desktop file inside an editor

Go to the line that says DesktopDefault=48

change it to read DesktopDefault=32

save the file and then relogin.

they should change back to the right settings for size 32 icons.

you will have to do this for all the index.desktop files
inside every theme directory you plan on using.
