kopete doent connect through proxy set in kde control center

Hi everyone...

I am a newbie at this, but took the way to linux definitely.
I installed Mepis, and this distro comes with kopete 0.8.4.
I ve read all docs and I can not see the light at end of the tunner!...
It just doesnt connect with my messenger passport.
I use konkeror as my file and web browser, It is set to go out through a proxy, so I set it manually at Configure Konqueror/Proxies. But nothing happens.

Some help will be appreciated.
