[kopete] 0.8.4 wont compile

I am trying to build kopete 0.8.4 on SuSE 9.x with kde 3.2.1 and when i run ./configure it gets to looking for kde and it cant find it. Here is the exact message:
checking for KDE... configure error:
in the prefix, you've chosen, are no KDE headers installed. This will fail. So, check this please and use another prefix!
and when i specify the /opt/kde3/include or /opt/kde3/ as --prefix= then the same thing happens. Thanks bunches.

to compile any application from source, you need the development files for kde.

you can find them here:
suse 9.0
http://www.suse.de/en/private/download/linuks/i386/update_for_9_0/devel.html

suse 9.1
http://www.suse.de/en/private/download/linuks/i386/update_for_9_1/devel.html

install the packages labelled kde***-devel

and you should be set for all kde applications to be compiled from source (assuming other external dependencies are satisfied).

sorry, only realised you are running kde 3.2.1. Those packages are for kde 3.2.3

You can either compile from source, or upgrade with the suse packages.

Okay. I updated kde but that is now not the problem. The problem is that it cannot find the X includes or libs. They are still where they were before i upgraded though...is there a file that i can edit (other than /etc/ld.so.conf) so it will find the includes?

Hello,

try installing x***-devel package, that might help.
