some useful things to try:

1. run "make clean" and try it again - this should reset things and you should see make actually doing something

2. just to be sure, delete the direcctory and re-expand the tarball so you can try it again from a clean start. sometimes if you have run ./configure multiple times, made more than once, etc. it gets "gummed up" and things get complicated

3. have a look at the Makefile (less ./Makefile) and check it exists and seems to have some stuff in it.

4. try and get a binary package for your distro

Can you paste the last bit of the configure output here?

Hi,

I'm having the same problem. configure seems to run okay, except for this bit:

configure: WARNING: linux/if_ppp.h: present but cannot be compiled
configure: WARNING: linux/if_ppp.h: check for missing prerequisite headers?
configure: WARNING: linux/if_ppp.h: see the Autoconf documentation
configure: WARNING: linux/if_ppp.h: section "Present But Cannot Be Compiled"
configure: WARNING: linux/if_ppp.h: proceeding with the preprocessor's result
configure: WARNING: linux/if_ppp.h: in the future, the compiler will take precedence
configure: WARNING: ## ------------------------------------------ ##
configure: WARNING: ## Report this to the AC_PACKAGE_NAME lists. ##
configure: WARNING: ## ------------------------------------------ ##

Here's the end of it:
fast creating [lots of Makefiles]
config.pl: fast created 144 file(s).
config.status: creating config.h
config.status: executing depfiles commands

Good - your configure finished. Start make now

make decides there's nothing to be done for every dir.

I run configure thus;
./configure --with-extra-includes=/usr/kerberos/include

ideas?
