cant talk to people on aim

ok.. the problems multiply.. i understand i cannot speak to people who are not on my buddy list.. i dont know why.. but that doesnt matter at the moment. (altho a solution here would help too) but lately people i have added are not showing up as online and thus i cannot talk to them... which has lead to mmore than a few of my xbox friends mad at me.. ok whats going on now? and what can i do about it?

also whenever i try to talk in yahoo (yes i have kopete8) i get the same stupid xml messege cannot be parsed deal as i did before only this time it happens all the time rather than just after like a half hour

Since the xml problem is now happening all the time, did you select a style in the appearance window of the configure screen?
As for the aim problems, I have had a lot of aim problems too, and all of them were solved once I deleted my $HOME$/.kde/share/apps/kopete directory and reconfigured.
