KPPP KDE 3.1

Im running SlackWare 9 on my labtop.
I used to run SuSe but i never got the internet dialer to work so i switched to slack.
But now im having problems with slack also.
First time i assigned modem to ttyS0 and i got to the Intilizing Modem. expecting OK and freezes.
I got frustrated with this so i reinstalled Slack.
Now i assigned my modem to ttyS2 and its telling me the modem is busy?
Any help would be appreciated, a word, a paragraph, a link. Thanks :P

Is your modem a 'real' modem, or a 'fake' (win/soft) modem?
Check www.linmodem.org to see if your modem is supported, and how you can get it to work..
