this may be a stupid question.....

but how do you connect to the internet? i am running mandrake 9.1 using a serial modem ( that i know works because i am using it right now to post on this board ). the only way i can get it to connect is to go to the mandrake control center and connect from there. is this the only way to connect or is there an easier way? i have been in the menu editor and added the "what to do" bar which has a connect to the internet button. when i click on the button nothing happens.

What do you mean you connect to the Internet through the Mandrake Control Center? Have you tried just opening a browser and browse?
"Chopsticks require a person to use 64 muscles and 30 articulate movements simultaneously, which also acts in developing brain potential."

i wasnt just stupid...

yes kenneth i did try to just open a browser and surf. the problem was i could not get my modem to connect unless i went to MCC and tested the connection there.
it seems the mandrake 9.1 doesnt come with KPPP. i downloaded the rpm and everything is just groovy.

kppp

Mandrake 9.1 does come with kppp, but not in the usual kde-network package. It's in it's own package (kde-network-kppp, i think).
