FTP login from Konqueror URL

I've set up a KDE desktop right click bookmark to my FTP server. Konqueror opens, but seems to login in as anonymous. I can browse, but not upload or delete. Is there a way to pass username and password in a URL?

Try ftp://user@targethost.com/
It should then ask for the password.

If you really want to store the password in a bookmark
you might also try
ftp://user:password@targethost.com/

Disclaimer: This is from memory.
I could't try it. The ftp ioslave seems to
be broken on my system...

Works as a dream, and I guess we learn something new everyday as I have never used ftp on a browser, I normally use the good old command line or kbear :D

I use Konqueror since a long time ago as my favourite ftp-client. I can splitt windows as i want which makes coping from filesystem into a ftp-site very easy.

On my machine i could also use

kbearftp://user@www.domain.com

seems to be the same as ftp:// only.

KBears ServerList is also integrated in the toolbar of my Konqueror, don't know how i've done this (default??) but its fine to choose from the registered servers.

Just for the record: It wasn't the ftp ioslave that was broken.
I had configured konqi to use a proxy. But junkbuster
on localhost:<port> didn't let ftp requests through...
So konqi seemed to load forever on ftp URLs.
