KMail and links to a web page

With KDE 3.1 bits and pieces are really falling into place. There is very little now that I'll miss making the final switch from Win2000 to Linux. KDE is definitively the best graphical user interface. :D

I may have made a mess of something but am unable to understand how and when: I use KMail. If I receive a mail with a link to a web page, which is quite common, it may happen that Konqueror opens, displaying a page, but referring to a local temporary folder/filename, not to the URL in the link itself. Most often, however, Konqueror will display nothing but error messages. :(
Can someone tell me what's wrong :?:

Check the file asociation for text/html

It should be Konqueror.
If you then click on "Edit..." check if the command is like this
kfmclient openURL %u text/html

The important part is %u
%u tells KDE that the application can handle URL itself.
If %u is not present, KDE thinks it hast to download to a local file first.

I deleted myself as a user - and installed myself again in a new home folder. And lo and behold - there it was all in place.
When I look at the file associations like you say, they are the way you say they should be - and it all works. Knowing how and why it works is the crucial part of it.
Thank you very much! :)
