koffice 1.3 installed, apps don't start, icons problems?

Installed koffice 1.3 (after kde 3.2 in my case), when starting kword from a konsole, this is what I get:

[code:1]
bash-2.05b$ kword
Xlib: extension "GLX" missing on display ":0.0".
Xlib: extension "GLX" missing on display ":0.0".
kdecore (KIconLoader): WARNING: Icon directory /home/carl/.kde3.2/share/icons/Wasp/ group not valid.
kdecore (KIconLoader): WARNING: Icon directory /home/carl/.kde3.2/share/icons/Wasp/ group scalable/filesystems not valid.
kdecore (KIconLoader): WARNING: Icon directory /home/carl/.kde3.2/share/icons/kids/ group not valid.
kdecore (KIconLoader): WARNING: Icon directory /usr/kde/3.2/share/icons/kids/ group not valid.
kdecore (KIconLoader): WARNING: Icon directory /home/carl/.kde3.2/share/icons/crystal/ group not valid.
kdecore (KIconLoader): WARNING: Icon directory /home/carl/.kde3.2/share/icons/Wasp/ group not valid.
kdecore (KIconLoader): WARNING: Icon directory /home/carl/.kde3.2/share/icons/Wasp/ group scalable/filesystems not valid.
[/code:1]

The only similarity I see between what I get, and what is already posted elsewhere is the warnings from KIconLoader. I get no mention of mimetype issues. I have now used Control Center Modules/Appearance and Themes/Icons to revert to KDE classic. Now I get no messages about icons directories... progress?

Now I get kword for example, exiting with no output:

[code:1]
bash-2.05b$ kword
Xlib: extension "GLX" missing on display ":0.0".
Xlib: extension "GLX" missing on display ":0.0".
bash-2.05b$
[/code:1]

If you know of a post that fixes this behaviour, please direct me to it 'cause I havn't found one yet. To add fuel to the fire, I run koffice 1.3 fine at work, installation is practically identical. Ideas? Anyone? :?

Well, the problem has gone away after I updated my system to the latest gentoo packages. Still would have liked to know what was wrong. But I'm a happy koffice user now!
