Right-Click--->Enqueue In Xmms.....

Hi all,

I'm a relatively new linux user, having played with Mandrake 10.1 community and more or less made a complete transition from XP to it, even getting Steam, audio, graphics and customising things the way that I like them, without much of a problem. Google has been my best friend!

My problem right now, and it's bugged me so much that I have temporarily reverted back to XP, is that I cannot for the life of me get some sort of right click option on the quickbrowser from the task bar.

You know in Windows, you can have a quick browser that browses a particular location, and then you can click on folders or files, and enqueue them in Winamp. As far as I can see I can't get this to work - I even went into the file assosiations panel and found folder (Was under inode - whatever inode is...), added xmms as the main application but still I see no "open with xmms" option when the quickbrowser pops up. The two options I do have are load in file manager and load in konsole (From memory - I cannot check as i'm on XP atm).

I can however, play single mp3's from this quick browser, because obviously they are assosiated correctly with an audio program, my problem is that I want to click the folder (say my Keane album) and play in xmms.

Sorry for waffling on, but it's the best way to describe my problem without having the desktop in front of me.

BTW, I don't mind using something like yammi! to browse my audio, so long as it offers the actual folder view on my HDD, of which I don't think it does, it merely categorises them into assorted genres, qhich is fine, but not all of my mp3's are correctly id3-tagged up, and sometimes I'd like to play my "randomsongs" folder which contains different genres. Also, playlists aren't what i'm after, becasue my choices vary :/

Any ideas please?

Thanks for reading this, and sorry to jump straight in with a waffling question in my very first post! :)

The best solution would be to try the greatest audio player ever - amaroK

Else, you could install actions for music files: see

First of all, thanks for the reply - I appreciate it :)

I have tried the enqueue plugin for xmms, and found it to work exactly how it said, but the quickbrowser menu's didn't work, I still only had the open in konsole or in file manager options - and in my haste i quit using xmms and went straight to amarok, of which I thought was and is much better, but failed to suss out how to get my folders in the browser part, so I can open them without the use of a playlist...

Am I being totally n00bish here, and impatience getting the better of me making me rush on to another program/idea ?

I am not really sure if i am understanding you, but here goes:

in amarok:
you set up a collection with all the folders you would like amarok to scan for music files. Then you can add these songs from the collection database (the second tab on the sidebar)

Adversely you could use the 'Entire collection' playlist in the smart playlist to add all your songs.

If you want to view your disk in folder mode etc, you can click on the last tab which is 'Files'. From here you can navigate around the system and add songs as you please, but they may not be in the database.

I think I was being hasty in my thinking that amarok wasn't gonna work for me, so I shall have another go today :D Thanks!

I even went into the file assosiations panel and found folder (Was under inode - whatever inode is...)

An inode is the base managment structure of a file system.
For example it holds information about the file it belongs to, if the file is a file in the sense of "data" or a directory/folder, and where it is located on the disk, etc
