kde 3.2. : some problems after installation

Hello,

I installed KDE 3.2. from Konstruct (meta/everything) :D, changed my .bashrc by hadding this variables :

export QTDIR=~/kde3.2
export KDEDIR=~/kde3.2
export KDEDIRS=~/kde3.2
export LD_LIBRARY_PATH=~/kde3.2/lib
export PATH=~/kde3.2/bin:$PATH
export KDEHOME=~/.kdetest

and created a .kdetest directory in my home directory.

Then I have some little problems :

- when I restart a session without rebooting, the session is fully bugged (no icon on desktop, applications don't have windows...)
- icons on Desktop don't stay at the same place between two sessions
- animation freezes when I begin a session

There is nothing really serious but this is not very comfortable

Somebody knows about this bugs ?

Chamoute,

I've had similar problems. I installed /meta/everything from Konstuct, then removed my /tmp/kde-USER, /tmp/ksocket-USER and /var/tmp/kdecache-USER folders (got this idea from searching through previous posts to the forum).

Which of these worked I do not know but now although it took me two attempts to log in to KDE 3.2, I have icons on my desktop, my application windows have borders, move, the mouse cursor works and I can use the applications etc. Fully functional KDE 3.2 at last.

My only problem is that logging in does not happen straightaway, and some of the icons are generic rather than the specific application icon (and the applications do not appear in the menu - installed them on KDE 3.1 - and still working out how to transfer them ove).

Good luck.

I still get KDE 3.1.4

I have done all the changes described in here, but I still get KDE 3.1.4.
So the desktop wallpaper and some other things have changed.

any idea why kde 3.2 won't start?
