Looking for help on KDE 3.2 and Fedora Core 1

I have installed KDE 3.2. in two ways:

1. I have used konstruct: everything worked fine, although it took quite long time.
After installation - reboot - and ... KDE 3.1.4. ...
KDE 3.2. does not work, anyway, if it is: I can not see it.

2. So, I decided to try one again, but this time I have downloaded all necessary files, and:
started Gnome and su, than - rpm - Uvh *
And now the system cried to me something like that:
Application_name already present, but updating it .. bla bla.

Application_name can be substituted with each KDE app being installed.
And, obviously, nothing worked after succesfull instalation.

I have no faintest idea what to do now.
Really looking forward to get some help...
Thanx in advance[/b][/i]

and now for something completely different

Best regards
Vito

I think you need to be more elaborate on what did not work after installing from the rpm. Did you get the splash screen?? Where did you install the rpm from?? Anyway try running the command "startkde" from a "failsafe terminal" and check if there are any errors and report back.

rright - did not answer for some time, for I 've ben a bit busy, but I have solved the problem. Files are OK, I downloaded them all, put in one directory and installed via 'rpm -Uvh *.rpm'.
Everything works fine now, apart from the fact, that right after I installed KMyFirewall (or Firestarter , Guarddog), and saved iptables after changing them to stealth my ports, KDE starts up quite longer than it used to before.

Thanx
