install problem

Ok Im relatively new to linux and I love kde so I decided to update to 3.2 (from 3.1 using mandrake) So I use konstruct to download and compile the tars, when kde is installing I get this error:

You're missing bzip2 development files.
make[2]: *** [configure-work/kdelibs-3.2.0/configure] Error 1
make[2]: Leaving directory `/home/mike/Documents/konstruct/kde/kdelibs'
make[1]: *** [dep-../../kde/kdelibs] Error 2
make[1]: Leaving directory `/home/mike/Documents/konstruct/kde/kdebase'
make: *** [dep-../../kde/kdebase] Error 2

Now I have bzip on mandrake so how do I resolve this error?

Install the libbzip2_1 and libbzip2_1-devel packages.

Thanks for the reply. I downloaded those two files and got a little farther in the install but i'm getting so many conflicts, errors, dependencies and cant even track them all :P I heard somewhere else that its impossible to dl and compile kde 3.2 with konstruct on mandrake 9.2. So what other route do I have to take? I've downloaded two differnt sets of rpms for 9.2 and both have bad signatures/dependancy problems/ect. and some rpms cant even be selected to install, this is what I get for about 15-20 of the rpms it cant install because of unsatisfied kde base. I really want kde 3.2 but it seems like nothing will work at the moment :P

That's wrong. You just have to install the listed dependencies including development headers of KDE.

I'm facing the same problem too..... I'm using RedHat 8.0, I cannot find libbzip2_1 and libbzip2_1-devel for RedHat 8.0.

If you are running Mandrake 9.2 with KDE 3.1 then bannick is correct in his advice; the development (header) files for bzip2 are not automatically installed under 9.2. Installing these leads to an effortless installation of 3.2 under Konstruct.

CORRECTION:

It is " binner" 's advice to "Bannick" I find correct.
