I have been trying to figure this out for weeks, just followed your advice, but still can't do it. Here's what I did:
1) as ROOT, I typed EDITOR=kate visudo
2) I then changed sudoers. It now reads as follows:
# sudoers file.
# This file MUST be edited with the 'visudo' command as root.
# See the sudoers man page for the details on how to write a sudoers file.
# Host alias specification
# User alias specification
# Cmnd alias specification
# Defaults specification
# User privilege specification
root ALL=(ALL) ALL
# Uncomment to allow people in group wheel to run all commands
# %wheel ALL=(ALL) ALL
# Same thing without a password
# %wheel ALL=(ALL) NOPASSWD: ALL
# Samples
# %users ALL=/sbin/mount /cdrom,/sbin/umount /cdrom
# %users localhost=/sbin/shutdown -h now
# ADDED December 4, 2003
lawrencegoodman ALL=(ALL) ALL
lawrencegoodman is the user I want to be able to have kdesu provileges, but when I type the command nothing happens. Do you know what's going on? Thanks.
