New user and password changing.

I have 2 questions.
1.How can i add a new user.
I read in a book that u must do so.
[root@HOME artiom]useradd new user
and i write so but id does'nt work.
2.How can i changes my password not for root but for a simple user?

useradd newuser e.g. useradd konceptor shoud work. Should work in all distributions.

Using gui tools like redhat-config-users its also a good idea. This is for RedHat, but IMO there are a lot of tools in other distributions.

have also a look into man useradd or with gui press <Alt> + <F2> and type in #useradd

Or if you (as root) want to change the password of the user,
type:
passwd theUserName

Or you might want to try the KDE program "kuser".
I haven't used that yet, though.
