Missing title bars & can't move windows

I'm stumped, so hopefully someone has some insight. I'm a Mac OS X user.

I'm running XDarwin 4.3 and KDE 3.1. Everything installed without problems, however when I start KDE, all of my windows are missing title bars, and I can't move any windows. I've searched the web, and found other people with the same problem, but no solutions or ideas as to what might be causing the problem.

HELP!!!!!!!!!

Thanks,

-Bill

Sounds like there is no window manager.
The window manager draws the decorations and, well, manages windows, including repositioning, resizing.

Check if kwin is installed.

Could you tell me how to check if kwin is installed or running. I know the kwin binary was installed when I installed KDE.

I use a package manager called fink, and it's listing kwin as being istalled and the current version, but I'm guessing there's also a way to check it from the terminal?

Thanks,

Bill

hmm, kwin should have been started then.
I don't know how this startup works on OS X, on Linux it is done by a script called startkde.

try starting kwin from a konsole running in your X session.

If it doesn't work either you could check if the fink people have a mailinglist
