kppp problem

This error (Kdeinit could not launch 'kppp') occurs everytime I run kppp from a desktop link, but never occurs if I run it from the menu or I logged as root.
Note that the error message appears only when I close kppp, in fact the connection always works: deskop icons disappears and come back when closing kppp the mentioned error appears.
(red hat 8.0)

How did you create the link? Did you drag'n drop it from kicker to the desktop or did you create a new Programlink (right click-> new->Program)

I created it by drag and drop from the menu: anyway, the error occurs if created in the other way.
I reapeat that the error NEVER occurs if logged as root.
