i need help with KDE

i wanna use the KMail, so i download the file from KDE ...(kdepim-3.3.1)
now i install the kde package ..then i got some problem ...when i use ./configure to config it ...
it says that my QT got problem .....and asking to compile QT with thread support ???
what does this means , since now im using QT 3.1.1.
i got this problem ...

checking for Qt... configure: error: Qt (>= Qt 3.2) (library qt-mt) not found. Please check your installation!
For more details about this problem, look at the end of config.log.
Make sure that you have compiled Qt with thread support!

Does QT ver 3.1.1 does support this or what ???

If you have read the error message, configure tells it needs Qt >= 3.2
So this version of kmail will not compile with qt 3.1.
Either upgrade your qt or download a kmail version fitting your qt.
Never patch not working code. Rewrite it !
Never patch badly designed classes. Recreate them cleanly.
