What about autostart applications on kde 4? I created the directory /home/.kde4/Autostart but it doesn't work.Thank you.

RE: Autostart on kde 4

I too would like to know. I do see a /usr/share/autostart folder for kde4 but would prefer a user space method.

Same here. I guess you could start a saved session, but I haven't figured out how to do this under KDE4. The session manager seems not to be able do this... any other ideas? ;-)

RE: Autostart on kde 4

I've done some tests. It may depend on your distribution. I'm using Fedora 8.90.

The system's KDE4 autostart directory is: /usr/share/autostart/
The user's KDE4 autostart directory is: $HOME/.kde/share/autostart/

In your case it could be: $HOME/.kde4/share/autostart/

RE: Autostart on kde 4

I'm using Kubuntu 7.10 and $HOME/.kde4/share/autostart/ worked for me.

Thanks!

autostart migrating fron kde3 to kde4

Yesterday I upgraded to kubuntu 9.04 which involved the migration to KDE4 and the autostart links of kde3 in ~/.kde/Autostart were still working. I also added a new one, namely ksensors, in ~/.kde/Autostart/. and it works fine too.

This forum post is the top hit for the subject, so here's the GUI answer, courtesy of a comment by the author of vizzzion.org
on Robert Penz' blog:
"The autostart configuration is also offered in system settings, in the advanced tab."
So cleverly hidden!
