Unicode problem in KDE and K3b in Fedora 7

My friend who has installed Fedora 7 has encountered unicode problem in K3b and KDE. The filenames are not displayed correctly in unicode.

KDE version: 3.5.6-9-f7
K3b version: 3.5.6-9-f7

Anyone has any idea?

RE: Unicode problem in KDE and K3b in Fedora 7

Try this. Check your /etc/fstab file and make sure you have option utf8 in it:
Each mount in my fstab likes this:
/dev/sda8 /mnt/relax vfat utf8,gid=0,umask=002,uid=500 0 0

I have the problem with Unicode too. In every KDE applications (Kwrite, Kate, Konsole,...) unicode character like: Ã, í,... cannot be seen correctly. In GNOME applications, everything works well with Unicode. How can I correct the error?

I use opensuse (several versions already used), but never saw such problem. My fstab is without extra encoding parameters, every character is displayed correctly (even exotic ones - like chineese :P). Maybe is a distro related problem (kde compiled without utf support?).
