Improving the Run Command dialog box

I have a suggestion for improving the Run Command dialogue box, sorry I don't have a better name for it.

It would be extremely useful if the box would auto suggest/complete applications as you type them in. GNOME already does this and it is a wonderful feature. Saves a lot of time when you have a ton of packages installed and you are fuzzy the name of the package.

For example, the feature would look like this:

I open Run Command and start typing 'Konver'

Since I typed Konver it would show in black font but then 'sation' would appeare in light gray after 'Konver' (Konversation). If the user's intention is to run the Konversation package, then he/she would hit the Enter key.

It would be even nicer if the user can turn this feature on and off in the more options box. Maybe the user can also choose only to auto complete package names or only commands?

Thanks

You're in luck. The Run Command dialog box (yes, that is its name) is being totally re-written in KDE 4, and that is one of the features that it will have if I remember correctly. Now, all that's left is to wait for KDE 4.0 to come out.

In the mean time, might I interest you in taking a look at this, imho, wonderful KDE launcher, which has the feature you are asking for, and more: http://katapult.kde.org/
OS: Kubuntu 6.06 LTS (Dapper Drake) | KDE 3.5.3
Computer Specs: AMD Sempron 2200 1.5Ghz | VIA KM266 Pro 8235 chipset | nVidia GeForce MX 4000 128MB DDR-RAM 32-bit AGP 8x
