I've tried both Ubuntu and Kubuntu, both of them being the 6.10 versions. I prefer KDE, so I'd rather use that, but I've noticed that the GUI is rather unstable. I haven't used GNOME long enough to know if it's unstable or not, but I know KDE is.
For example, if I unplug my computer by accident when it's shutting down, KDE will go down. It's easy enough to fix, of course - just use apt-get to get KDE again - but it's a definite nuisance. There's also weird stuff, like uninstalling Python 2.4. If I do that, then part of the taskbar for KDE will go crazy.
Is this a problem with the distribution? I'm willing to go through the Debian installation process if it makes the final product as stable as, say, WinXP. But if it's just a problem with KDE, then I'll reconsider.
So, is KDE this finicky on other distros? Or is it just Ubuntu?
