Compiling KDE 3.5.6 for Kubuntu 6.06

Hi folks
i want to get latest kde for kubuntu 6.06 officially they are supporting only 7.04 edgy for kde 3.5.6. i want to install complete package i mean /meta/everything shown in konstruct for installation. but my problem in 248 mb i cannot download in a single attempt. can i get this package separately by kget and then compile it?? and what is necessary for compilation i mean packages i think build essential may be.
more if i install kde by root account would it replace existing kde from kubuntu?

is there no answer for my question??
plz reply with a no if u have no solution so i can see there is some one on this forum for KDE hlep.
i tried to compile packages but in ./configure command it asks about x, i do not know how to provide it x which is already there.

You need X devel packages.
