Animated backdrops

I've recently been trying to get the backdrop of KDE-3.5.5 to display an opengl animation without much luck, I know it can be done but there is no easy kde option for it.
Is there any chance of an option enabling things like the opengl screensavers to be used as backdrops instead of boring wallpaper?
It would make excellent eye-candy to lure unsuspecting Windoze users over to KDE!

You know, they don't make massive recruitment here :)
KDE is for its users, make fun for you first.
