[Kopete] Can't connect to AIM

Is it just me, or is anyone else unable to connect to AIM using Kopete 0.11.1 ??

It worked fine, then suddenly it stopped last week sometime....

I can connect to MSN, and Yahoo without any problems....


I'm running Kubuntu on a intel box, using Kopete 0.11.1, KDE ver 3.5.2 [KDE]

Thanks for any ideas / help to fix!

I'm having this same issue, and it's driving me batty. I'm using Kopete 0.12.2 on KDE 3.5.2. The problem manifests as AIM and ICQ both sitting in the "attempting to log in" status forever. Oddly enough, people can send me messages, and I can reply when they do, but I cannot initiate new message on either of those protocols. Further, when I'm in conversation with someone on those protocols (when they inititiate the IM, obviously), then the other party always displays an "Offline" status.

Anyone else having these issues? Anyone know of a fix?

There were some 'enhancements' in the ICQ/AIM protocol lately. Kopete already fixed that, but I don't know if Kopete 0.12.3 was released before or after that fix. You should look if your distro ships a patched version of Kopete (Gentoo does, FYI). Or wait for a new KDE release, 3.5.6.

bah - kk - grr... Well - many thanks, bram!

I'm using ubuntu on this machine. I just checked in with an associate who has upgraded to Edge Eft and so has Kopete 0.12.3. His system is exhibiting the exact same bahavior (we tried my AIM account and his). =o/

I'll just switch over to GAIM or something until this gets itself worked out... I may just bite the bullet this time and write up a log parser to convert back and forth between Kopete and GAIM logs (assuming I have any spare time drop in my lap!).
