Why can't i send custom emoticons to my friends, but i can recieve?? Is there something that i should do? They're already in the folder and in the emoticons.xml files. I can even see them , but my contacts can't!

Thanks!

RE: [Kopete] Custom emoticons

I'm in the same boat. I can not send custom emoticons out. Yes, export current emoticon theme to others is clicked.

Anybody know anything?

Same problem here!

Where can I find this "export current emoticon theme to others" option you mentioned?

RE: [Kopete] Custom emoticons

Hi,

as far as I know currently only the upload of png Emoticons is supported.

I think it is written somewhere on the Homepage or in the doc

It's not only for non png's that aren't displayed.. The problem is more than that. I had my kopete working with custom png emoticons, but after updating it to 12.2 (I think) It stoped exporting custom emoticons. I'm using gentoo with latest kde now and kopete 12.3 (which comes with 3.5.5 kde) and still no luck with that . So it's not the problem with wrong file format but it's a bug. (and the warning about png emoticons is wroten in the settings/msn account window)

I've tested this using MSN protocol for a while. My testing receiver is on M$ Windows using MSN messenger 8.0. I found the following facts:

1. If we sent an emoticon THAT RECEIVER DID NOT HAVE, it would not be shown, no matter png or gif file.
2. If we sent an emoticon THAT EXISTS IN RECEIVER's emoticon pool, it could be shown, under certain circumstance:
2.a First time I sent _;-)_ to receiver, but no icon was shown. (underline means space)
2.b Then I sent _;-) to receiver, this time the ;-) icon was shown.
2.c Then I sent ;-) without spaces, shown too.
2.d Then I sent _;-)_ again, this time the icon was shown.

Strange right? ?( The most confusing thing is: I did not meet this problem before upgrading to (or say, re-installing) Mandriva 2007.0... I wonder if I was missing some libraries or not?

Should I commit a bug report to bugs.kde.org?

I found this bug was reported earlier, and have asked someone to mark my report as duplicated. You can go to that one (bug #129929) and vote for it. :)
