Kde Programs won't open .jpg, a mime-type issue?

Hello All,

KDE has lost its ability to open or preview any .jpg/.jpeg file on my system. All other graphics formats work just fine. I upgraded from suse 10.0 to suse 10.1 and from kde 3.5.1 to kde 3.5.3, but the issue still persists. No error messages are given, even when starting a kde graphics program, such as kuickshow, from the command line. This doesn't seem to be a graphics library or permissions issue because any other user account on my computer can open .jpg's with kuickshow (or any other kde program) just fine. Since this problem only affects my user account, probably something has gotten hosed in my .kde configuration directory. I renamed some of my .jpg files to .gif, and magically those images could be viewed. So, Im thinking something with the mimetypes is messed up. Does anyone know how I can go about fixing this?

Do you have CrossOver Office installed? This is what I found on http://www.pclinuxonline.com/wiki/InstallingCrossover

During the installation CrossOver Office added a file association for .jpg files. To keep konqueror correctly working with your jpg files, remove the file association x-crossover-jpg. To do this, open the KDE Control Center from the Startmenu -> Configuration -> KDE Control Center.

Select Components -> File Associations. Do a Find filename pattern for "jpg" and you'll see an option named "application -> x-crossover-jpg". Remove that. Also Find filename pattern for "jpeg" and also remove the "application -> x-crossover-jpeg" association. Click "Apply" and wait until your settings are updated.

If you don't have CrossOver installed, look for the file ~/.kde/share/mimelnk/image/jpeg.desktop and delete it.

Actually, I do have crossover installed. After deleting those crossover associations, every thing worked again! Thank you for your help, you have saved many hours of pain and frustration.
