no panels menu in the kde control center

using fedora core 4. using kde 3.5

just updated packages using kde-redhat-stable

in kde control center I have the button for panels but its blank.

when I right click on the taskbar and select configure. it shows only taskbar button. no more panels, hiding thought was another button ?

perhaps a permission issue?

appreciate any suggestions.

In some cases, re-installing kdebase seemed to solve the problem.

RE: no panels menu in the kde control center

See http://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=117544.

Solution: cp -R /usr/etc/xdg/* to /etc/xdg/

This resolution is for KDE compiled from source only. I have updated from FC3 KDE 3.4 to FC4 KDE 3.5 with yum using kde-redhat-stable repo and since then i dont have panels. Everything else works fine.

Please help i don't know what to do! PLEASE! PLEASE! PLEASE!

You can check the userguide of kde for environment variables and figure out where your XDG-tree is en where it should be.
