I find it funny that not windows xp or kde 3.4 (that i run).
does have a working files dialg window.

If i open Kcolorpaint and then use "open file" i get a filedialog window.

But i can't drag a imagefile icon from the desktop,
and droip it on the filedialog. I want that. Why does not filedialog support this?
i want that.

It should fill in the correct path and filename so i can click "open".
And get the file open.

My Experiment using Kedit:

I have a link on my desktop called “file100.txt”.
This is a link to the file: /very/long/and/funny/file100.txt
There also is a file : /very/long/and/funny/file200.txt
And there is a link at desktop to that file also

I start Kedit.
If i drop “file100.txt” from desktop at Kedit it opens it.
Now if I drop the file “file200.txt” (from desktop) at Kedit it replaces the file I have?!

The function I was originally thinking of was this.
I have the file “file100.txt” and I want to use the function “insert file” (In Kedit).
If I have a link on the desktop to that file I want to insert, I can just use the “open files dialog”, and drag the link to the dialog.
This also works (if u aims correctly). Nice!!

Now I don’t have to klick like hell to get to my file.
I just klick “open”

Now, in this exercise i want to save the new glued file, in the same position as the first one.
(/very/long/and/funny/file100.txt)
But this time as “/very/long/and/funny/file100_moddifed.txt”

Now if I use the “save as” dialog and drag the “file100.txt” link from desktop?
No, it does not work. (This will create a file in /root/desktop/ called files100.txt)
Because the files dialog don’t see links correctly.

Too bad.

My suggestions:
Change the “open files” dialog, so I can drop a link icon anywhere and not just in the white box.

Fix the link problem, so that “open” and “save” knows the correct path of the file.
