here is the link : http://www.keelhaul.me.uk/linux/symlinkprops-0.12.tar.gz and here is the dud's site: http://www.keelhaul.me.uk/linux/ :-)
i'm soooo sorry, and dumb. my hal daemon was not running. i took it for granted :-( oups. ( please don't kill my user account for this :-) all works just fine now. :-) thank you all for the help.
I am running Fedora (devel) with KDE 3.5.4 and i get the same error on plugin a USB key or CD/DVD. "Feature only available with Hal"
i have this issue too :-( it started after updating kde 3.5.1 to 3.5.2 ( i think) on fc5-devel ( 2.6.16-1.2088_FC6 , kdelibs-3.5.2-1 , hal-0.5.7-3 , dbus-0.61-3 )
thanks Jasi :-) i've added acl just after defaults to the / mount options in the /etc/fstab file and now it works ! once again. since i've updated some other packages (attr , acl ... ) along with kde, maybe the issue is not related to kde. maybe it happens in xfce or gnome env too ?
i have exacly the same problem with fc4-devel (after upgrading to kde 3.5) and i have no idea what caused it too :-(
