At least in my KDE 3.5, your keyboard is in the selection list. I use a Logitech Access keyboard that has such functions that work flawlessly out of the box. What version of KDE are you using?

They're spread all over your kde folders, since every kde-application has it's translations for each language. Installing the kde-i18n package provides these translations for all the apps.

I think that this can be done in the control-center -> Desktop -> Taskbar Change the appearence into "For transparency". If I remember that right, this setting makes the buttons get the same color as the taskbar.

In the Tools menu of your firefox, you find an item Themes, click on it. On the bottom of the pop-up, click the link Get more Themes which will open a browser window. Navigate the extensions, there are a few with specially tiny fonts and icons, like littlefox. Install them by following the instructions, usually just a click on the install link.

I just looked at my settings wehre I stumbled over a setting in Web Behaviour, there's a checkbox in the tabbed-browsing section that says "Open links in tabs rather than new windows"... seems that this needs to be unchecked.
In your control-center -> Desktop -> Behaviour, in the tab "Icons ..." (sorry, I translate freely from my french vesion), you can choose the items you wish to be displayed on the desktop.
This could be an error (or an intentional thing) in the mouse pointer image. In your control-center, choose another mouse pointer theme, perhaps this helps. If you don't like the ones there, you might also look for some cusom ones on kde-look.org
In the menu Configuration -> Konqueror -> Behaviour you'll find a checkbox "Open files in a new window" (sorry if the labels do not match exactly, I translate it freely from my french version). Check the box and restart Konqueror, this might solve your problem.
You probably have the possibility to use the [ALT]+[F2] shortcut to display your command launcher. If so, you can try to launch kicker (just type kicker in the textbox). If this does not work, type konsole, this will launch a console of course. There you try to launch kicker and see if you get any messages back from the system. Looks as if you're using a Gentoo system. I have had similiar problems, so I decided to download the alsa source packages directly from the alsa homepage. Compiling them manually helped me to fix the problem. As I updated to the 2.6.15 kernel, I decided to unmerge the alsa-driver and to use the one integrated in the kernel... this works fine for me.
Perhaps it would be useful to fix the error with your kernel rather than use such a workaround? Do you have any error messages in your /var/log/messages that may give a hint?
