lock desktop icons

hello all, anybody knows if it's possible through editing its .desktop file to prevent a desktop link from displaying cetain actions, in particular things like copy deletec etc? im deploying kde for my LAN and need to place links to devices on the users' desktop (no i am not using that HAL crap sorry) and if these links get deleted then my users will be unable to mount devices through the gui, anybody got an idea? thanks in advance!
