Would like to "stack" files or rather thumbnails of files. For example if I have files related by the month, it would be nice to drag the thumbnails on top of each other and have a pile for jan, another for february....etc.. then I could keep them all in a folder named "2007", instead of nesting monthly folders under the 2007 folder. Is this doable in Konq? I am not familiar with scripts, but could one be written or is there one available if Konq cannot do this? Thank you
Using Firefox 1.0.2 with KDE 3.3.2 on Mandrake 10.2 for about two years Recently, opening mailpage in Yahoo displays all text in large lettering with no table formats, borders, background colors etc. Some text overwrites other text. Also, animated or flash stuff "flickers" to another part of the screen then settles to the correct position. Am using kaudiocreator 1.13 in PC LinuxOS v.93. Am ripping a set of about 10 CDs all pressed by the same distributor as a series. Each CD however has different artists. For some reason kac found all the playlist information on one of the CDs, but now that I am ripping more of them, it cannot locate any playlists for the other discs. I don't think kac used CDDB to locate the 1st CD list because I DID NOT ask it to lookup CDDB.....it just filled in the album and tracks with the correct information...
Sorry about the vague title but I am absolutely clueless as to what IM is. I understand it is chatting in real time. I understand I can talk to friends who are also IM users I can open Kopete I have a yahoo account and use firefox to browse. I opened the kopete wizard and chose "protocol to connect yahoo" entered user name closed wizard with "connect" on finish Am I connected? how do I tell? I can connect to my email but is this IM? Have searched this forum and googled, but very little on KMouth. Running MDK 10.2 with festival and Kmouth installed. festival working from CL but KMouth not. Command is /usr/bin/festival. this is where festival installed itself. Send data as standard input checkbox is selected. any ideas? Thanks
Running MDk 10.2 using KDE 3.3.2. How do I change permissions in KDE configuration to have access to some functions in KDE Print manager? I am able to operate as user in Mandrake control center but in KDE PM I must enter 'root' and root password to get many things done. Thanks
Using MDV 2005LE with KDE 3.3.2 This is a new problem. KDE printing configurator opens hung and stays hung. No mouse clicks work. Open kcmshell printer module from konsole and it opens the GUI but still hung up. Printer test page works from the Mandrake control center. Any ideas? Thanks
Have never been able to use KDE print manager to install a printer because at end of wizard, it asks for a password. Then error message "authentication failed" user=<name> or I do not have "access to requested resources". I have read the KDE print handbook and the wizard final confirmation page in the manual is blank!!! In Konqueror 3.3.0 , I have these actions in my right click menu: create gzip archive create bzip archive create archive extract to... extract here archive in Konq 3.3.2 I have only: archive create data cd with K3b append to kaffiene.... Using Mandrake 10.0 Figured out adding fonts yesterday, but themes are giving me trouble. Went to kde themes page but completely lost about: 1. What are levels? 2. I installed one .tar.gz theme from a 3rd party site and it installed fine, but from kde, it was also a .tar.gz file but error message - this file is not a valid icon archive 3. notice that icons are in a separate link. does this mean they are included in the themes, but can be d/loded by themselves? 4. new to Koffice and Kword. Each time I create a document in Kword a backup file is also created, but, not sure what format it's in, what to do with it, etc. Also, it will not open. Receive error message KDEInit could not launch <filename>. What's up? Thanks
Using Koffice 1.3 on Mandrake 10.0. Is it possible to upgrade to 1.4 or better to start fresh? I like the looknfeel of Koffice, but there are several glaring bugs. Have these been fixed in 1.4? Used Kspread invoice template>saved it, also tried save as>tried to preview print......... nothing shows up>tried to print>error mssg-----nothing to print. The file has been saved and the printer is working. Did I miss something? Thanks
Similar problem in new FC2 install with mozilla. Shutdown browser and later discovered all my bookmarks gone. No problem with Konqueror. good luck....
having same problem in newly installed FC2, but mysteriously after about 10th boot for no apparent reason, I was able to make the device active and get online. Up until then kept getting (error6 or 8). The modem still does not show up in the hdwr browser. Also kudzu "found" the modem during about the 20th bootup, but the modem still does not show in hdwr browser or in /dev/. Also this modem connects with confirmation in Kppp, but neither browser can make connection, even tho both browsers CAN co...
OK....new crash scenario. MDK 10.0 KDE 3.2 In the process of installing flashdrive for bigger files, I noticed that inserting the flashdrive froze the system and would have to hard boot. Enter new problem ...on boot, I get to LILO screen>enter linux> get X screen, then instead of KDE, get terminal window in lower right with no borders. Prompt responds sporadically...or not at all, have had to hard boot several times now. When I do get a response I type in “KDE” and receive : “fatal server error”...
Am able to use cp to copy files to new user, but not whole folders, which would be faster. Keeps saying ....omitting folder. Also could you please explain exactly how to reinstall kde for the user who has crashes, using the delete ~/kde? Am new to CLI. thanks
Yeeaahhh! OK....created new user, logged in and so far no crashes. This means something in my personal config got messed up, but I tried to reset all defaults. Would a fsck be of any use? 1. What is best way to transfer my existing files to the new user home folder. 2. You said something about backup ~./kde and reload a fresh install of KDE. Am new to linux and CL. Here is info you asked for. This PC has been running fine sincemdk 10.0 install 3 mo. ago. Power was accidentally shutoff 2 wks ago and kde went away, but went into MCC and reselected KDE under boot options and all has been OK until this.
