RE: History in Kopete

`kde-config --localprefix`/share/apps/kopete/logs (usually kde-config --localprefix is ~/.kde)

RE: [kopete] repopulate buddy list

When you say you deleted your buddy list, how did you actually do this? Removing or renaming `kde-config --localprefix`/share/apps/kopete/contactlist.xml will cause all of your buddy lists for all accounts to be redownloaded from the server. It's entirely possible your deletion was synced to the server though, and in this case you'll have to manually readd those buddies.

RE: Defining the proxy for Firefox, Gaim etc. from KDE's Control Center

Unless you're willing to write something to parse the KControl rc file and then write the appropriate settings to the Firefox, Thunderbird and Gaim rc files no, as far as I'm aware it can't be done. They're completely seperate from KDE and don't pay any attention to any KControl settings. What you can do is look into environment variables that they do obey, and look into adding those to your script. Gaim obeys http_proxy and http_proxy_port variables if they're set and I believe firefox and thun...

RE: [Kopete]no sounds

Do any of your KDE sounds work? When you say you've 'tried everything' you need to actually lay out the exact steps you have gone through in order for us to have any idea how to help you There is a general sound troubleshooting FAQ for KDE here: http://docs.kde.org/development/en/kdebase/faq/sound.html If your sound does work properly in other KDE applications, try renaming `kde-config --localprefix`/share/config/kopete.eventsrc to something else and then reconfiguring your kopete sounds. It has...

RE: Konqueror doesn't show/open jpg files

In Settings -> Configure Konqueror, have a look under File Associations. In the 'Find filename pattern' box type in 'jpg'. Expand the little arrow next to 'image' that appears in the known types box, and click on 'jpeg' underneath it. On the 'Embedding' tab, ensure the Left Click Action is set to 'Show file in embedded viewer'. Under 'Services Preference Order' make sure 'Embeddable Image Viewer' is the top entry. (Or Gweview Image Viewer, if you prefer to use it's plugin in Konqueror to view im...

RE: [Kopete] Change DPI of renderer for Chat Window

This is a long standing bug that appears with various fonts at various DPI. I'm afraid there is currently nothing you can do about this except artificially set your X11 to be 96 DPI or higher. This bug does not occur for me on my naturally 105 DPI screen, and goes away on all lower DPI screens if I artifically inflate the DPI. I'm sorry I don't have a better answer for you.

RE: Why does Firefox always look like crap?

There is an entry about this on the official KDE FAQ http://docs.kde.org/development/en/kdeba….html#id2562188 This KControl module that's provided by the gtk-qt engine package is a very nice way of setting your gtk (including firefox) fonts from within KDE. It also lets you select to try to make Gnome apps mimic your KDE theme, or to select another Gnome theme to use for Gnome applications.

[kopete] Logs causing lag

I'm afraid the Kopete plugin that writes the logs is not as efficient as it could be. At the moment there is no fix for this issue.
