Hi. I first encountered this problem on Slackware 10.0. Before I installed a mm kernel with Alsa the KDE startup sounds worked ok. After I'd installed the Audioslack kernel I lost the startup sounds, but if I login as root to KDE GUI the sounds play. This is using kdm . I have the same problem now on a Gentoo install. If I login at kdm as root the KDE startup sounds play, but as user, nothing. I've tried changing permissions in Noatun, and Kmix as a last resort, but nothing seems to sort this pr...
Hi. On FC2, Debian sarge, Gentoo, I've got parts of Ksim, but no binary file. On FC1 the binary file is in /usr/bin, and Ksim works just fine. On FC2 I had to intall the tar.gz of Ksim, and the same on Debian to get it to work. In FC2 and Debian some Ksim files exist in /usr/share and /usr/share/applications. Normally I can just click on items in /usr/share applications and they'll open on the desktop. Trying this in FC2, Debian, or Gentoo just brings up a dialog box saying. "The desktop entry f...
I've fixed it . but as kde forum has just trashed my post I can't be bothered to write it agin
thanks seb for the link. I DLd the tar.bz2 and there was an i386.rpm there as well which I DLd. Tried to run the .rpm install thro the package manager in FC1 but told me there were a lot of missing dependencies, They are listed as being tied to Kamix, but could this be the reason why Kmix has'nt installed itself properly, as these dependencies are needed for Kmix as well. Dependencies listed: libasound.so.2 libaudio.so.2 libexpat.so.1 libidn.so.11 libjack-0.80.0.so.0 libkwalletclient.so.1 libmad...
Thanks. anda_skoa. Tried that but nothing. It seems even though Kmultimedia is installed there is a problem with Kmix. Any idea on what I might try to get Kmix installed and running. I downloaded Kmultimedia thinking Kmix might be installable from it ,but it is split up into so many different bits, its almost impossible. Perhaps theres another sound mixer I could DL and install to solve the problem if you know of one. Mekon
Have FC2 on a machine with Audigy soundcard, and Kmix is present in the audio menu and works ok. The other machine has an Ensoniq card (ES1371) and FC1 OS. The sound works ok but Kmix is missing off the menu and I have no control over the volume, etc. Internet radio volume can be controlled from the BBC Radio Player but is limited. I also have an instance of FC1 on the machine with the Audigy card, and Kmix is missing off the menu there as well, but again the sounds work but with no way to contr...
