hmmm, tought i would get some kind of response to this post actually now i see that konqueror is slow all the time. and it doesnt load all the graphics on webpages. what gives? i have been looking for an all qt type environment, i dont like gnome or apps written in gtk. i use opera but wanted to use kontact and konqueror but it is too slow and not up to par as a web browser. file manager yeah, web browser no although there are things that could be different as a file bowser too any ideas how to ...
whenever i use kmail and click a link it opens konqueror but it takes forever to open the page. firefox, opera, they all open faster. i would love to use kamil and konqueror exclusively, but this is keeping me from doing it. any suggestions on how to get konqueror to open a web page more quickly?
i get one similar when i close out of a konsole window, but mine usually says it exited badly, like it crashed but it either goes away on its own or i can click on it to make it go away. not sure what it is though or how to turn it off
the new way in kde 3.3 doesnt make any sense and the old way was so much easier. if i choose Advanced --> Special Window Settings, which one do i choose, Use window class (whole application) or Use whole window class (specific window) to make an app like Firefox open maximized every time but pop-up dialog boxes in the app to open normally. also other apps i dont need to change anything, like thunderbird i can open it, maximize it, close it and when i open it again, it is maximized. i cant do thi...
no prob! hope you figured out what you needed
Quoted Original von epte And if you jiggle your mouse cord out of its socket, when was the last time someone did that? seriously though i understand about not using a mouse and using only the keyboard, im a mouse kinda man and rely a lot on the gui, i can use the cli but most of the time im in kde didnt mean to sound rude or anything and if so, i apologize.
why do that? that is silly, you can just move your mouse pointer to the corner of the konsole window and do the same thing. i just dont get this i guess, if you need to resize your konsole window on the fly, why not just make it bigger to begin with? are you typing so much that you cant move your hand to your mouse and resize the window (which is probably faster than using the cursor keys on the keyboard after pressing an awkward key sequence like alt-F6) just trying to understand why this would...
well, renamed default icons for the icon theme i was using, thanks amoeba couldnt find anything under ~/.kde, nothing in there having to do with icons there should be a better way to do this though you would think. i mean i can create a link on the desktop and go to the properties page for that icon and change the icon, i can do that for the Home link also, why cant this be done with the trash can icon? renaming files and copying them into folders is fine, but time consuming and not very user fr...
dont understand. konsole is a gui program, you can set it up to your liking and save as default setup. then everytime you launch konsole either via icon or run command line, it opens the same maybe konsole just cant do this for the fact that you can set it up with the Settings menu
distros like gentoo and debian arent ready for the desktop home user, plus they really arent for the server room either. if you have time to setup gentoo (which i have done by the way) in a server setting, more power to you, but it probably shouldnt be used for in-a-hurry type installs i use debian and will not change. i have used (extensively) slackware, suse, red hat/fedora, and gentoo (not for very long though) and i always go back to debian and there i have stayed for the desktop mainstream ...
in konsole you can use the Settings menu and choose Size to choose the size of the terminal you want and then Save as Default on the same menu
i had that problem on debian and installed xscreensaver and xscreensaver-gl with apt-get and issue resolved
cant seem to find this anywhere. anyone know?
hi, this is my first post here i agree with arichard though. this is a pretty major change from 3.2.3 to 3.3 i cant seem to get these new settings to work. specifically, my issue is with firefox (and probably any other app that has internal popup dialog boxes). if i choose specific window and tell it to remember size and position, all dialog boxes get that same size too. if i choose whole application, that doesnt seem to work right either why was this changed? the old way in 3.2.3 was so much ea...
