try running /usr/local/kde/bin/kopete If you installed the other kopete with rpm or during system install. It can be removed with rpm -e kdenetwork-kopete

rpm -e kdenetwork-kopete should uninstall the rpm. also if you dont want to mess with CVS .8.4 was released with the fixes http://kopete.kde.org/index.php?page=downloads

Is there an option in kopete for extended information on buddies when you mouse over their names? Such as time online/away. Right now mine only tells me the login name,status, and away message if set. Thanks.

remove irc from SUBDIRS in kopete/protocols/Makefile.am Oh you want irc sorry. The above will compile without irc. Maybe you should post the error you get. Someone may know whats going on.

I had the same problem. If you don't care for the IRC support. removing irc from SUBDIRS in kopete/protocols/Makefile.am fixes it. I also got erros on Gadu removing $(GADU) took care of that.

i have the same problem $ kopete -v Qt: 3.2.3 KDE: 3.2 BRANCH >= 20040204 Kopete: 0.8.3 Just to test, I signed up for a new icq account. The new one works, but my old one does not... However, both work in gaim. I also changed the password on the old account and deleted kopeterc to start fresh...no luck.
