well html files are assciated with konqueror $kcontrol (kde control center) >kde components >file associations >text >html add > /path/to/firefox/firefox then html files are opened with firefox for at least all the kde aplications (kmail/kopete) and maybe a few others.
Sure, i could do that, I was just answering the question about my firewall admins.
well javascript is enabled andchanging the id who n't help: if I try IE it asks for active script... if I try safari or mozilla it is older unsupported versions. Maybe it is possibles to change the browser identities list but I could not manage to do it.
Quoted A HTTP proxy behind your firewall doesn't give you access to IPs that you wouldn't have access to otherwise. I guess your firewall admins mean tunnelling protocols through open ports is disallowed, no? well , we have no access to most of known proxy IP's
Well thanks all for these ideas. I am a little disappointed since it seems to be quite basic and could be done in user space without needing to be root to add/del (ban/unban) a domain. None of these solution allows different users to have different settings. And some of them even require to restart the network.
using a proxy is not allowed where I work (we do not have access to some ip address) well using hosts should be fine and as easy as making a new firewall rule, but I would like to do it without having to log as root / sudo.
thanks, it is interesting to be alerted when you have new mail, but I'd like to be able to see the web interface directly. I can browse it with firefox, google says it works with safari khtml engine, so why not with konqueror?
Did some one notice that most of the adds on web sites are coming from a different domain. Since I am almost always browsing the same sites, I d like to make a blacklist in konq for these sites. Another way to make it work would be to set a firewall rule, but I think it s not the right way to do it fot it would affect all users .... I tried once M$ win server 2003, and white lists and blacklist are enabled as a default.
gmail Beta have a web interface only, and I wnat to make it work with konqueror, since there is no chance to make it work with kmail.
yes that would be great I'd also like to be able to use file transfer, and video with msn, i know more and more guys that just doesn't know how to send a file with a different method. Is it planned for future kopete release? Another good Idea would be skype support, but skype linux client works quite well.
Well konq does not behave like that on my box, are you running klipper? it is kde clipdboard, very convenient when the thing you want to paste is not the last you have selected, but annoying when it tries to launch url automatically, so then make sure that actions are not actived in klipper
with konqueror 3.2? If someone have any clue, according to google, gmail works with safari 1.2.1, is the khtml engine newer?
it is so easy to find a program with linux, using any terminal: $locate kopete will help you if it does not find it try to update locate database $updatedb another program you can try is $whereis kopete and if it still deos not work $find / -iname "*kopete*"
I think it is more likely to be an issue with your X server, then you should check the screen resolution(s) in /etc/X11/XF86Config-4 (or /etc/X11/xorg.conf if you use x.org instead of xfree , depending on your distro theses files might be elsewhere) You can also try ctrl alt + , to swich among your resolutions. You might also check the kdm configuration, it is all in kde control center ->sytem administration-> connection manager
found that my favorite web browser has a very common vulnerability, so I want to patch it: for those browsing with konqueror (or any browser but firefox 0.9 and moz 1.7): http://secunia.com/multiple_browsers_fra…erability_test/ So is there a patch available yet?
