Paranoia level of audiocd ioslave

Hello, has anyone figured out which settings the audiocd ioslave uses for cdparanoia? I try below -- it seems that it uses a quite paranoid setting -- but am I correct? If so, how does that relate to the complaint about kaudiocreator not using cdparanoia in a recent post? Still to investigate: Which error conditions are brought to the user's attention? It seems that the default for the audiocd ioslave is to use its internal parameter "paranoiaLevel = 2", unless anything is set in the configurati...

Digital photo version control

Hello! What is the ideal way to manage digital photos? I would say that one very essential feature is to be able to edit photos for your digital albums, while keeping a backup of the originals -- without duplicating the photos that you don't edit. One of the greatest hassles that my parents are experiencing on their windows box is managing digital photos. [Kopete] ICQ: "Status not available" -- solution

Problem: ICQ contacts work OK when initially added, but are always displayed as "status not available" at later times. Chatting with these contacts works and other protocols such as MSN work as well. Cause: Kopete does not update your contacts list on the ICQ server. Solution: Shut down Kopete. Use a different ICQ client, such as Licq, to add your contacts to your contacts list. Then restart Kopete. Your contacts should now display their connection status. / Martin

KOffice templates from Microsoft!

IMHO KOffice suffers from a lack of templates for producing professional-looking documents. Fortunately, there is a new contributor to the project. Here is a collection of decent templates for KOffice; just download and use cabextract. (I just tried a few in KWord and they worked perfectly. I don't know about the other applications.)

Konqueror vs. File Dialogs

I love the file dialogs in KDE! They are the first thing I show to people when advocating for KDE, as they really show off the benefits of a shared infrastructure (including the use of kioslaves). They are also very easy to use. Thanks to the shortcuts you can put in the side bar and bookmarks in the drop-down menu you can quickly navigate to common locations. But where are the corresponding features in the actual file browser, Konqueror? The closest thing seems to be the navigation panel, which...
