KDE/X won't save my screen resolution

you can try this. (you might need to do 'updatedb' as root first) locate file_name whereis app it might be in /etc/init.d/ that's the only 3 things i can think of. hopefully that helps you. sijis

using kde logout stops computer.

hi. I'm a newb for all purposes. I don't know what information would be useful to help me out. just tell me what you info you need and where i might find it on the system. Anyhow this is my problem. i'm not using xdm to get into kde. i just log on to my computer via console, and then type 'startx'. kde loads up just fine. no problems. now, when i go to k>logout and hit ok the desktop seems to close and the screen goes black (or blank) and then it doesn't do anything else. I could never get back ...
