Hello, I'm running more than one linux OS on my laptop and would like them all the share the same kmail mail folder. I have a data partition where I put common files to share (e.g. Konqueror bookmarks), and separate partitions for Kubuntu 6.06, Blag 5000, Zenwalk 3.0, Slackware 10.2. I copied one of the ~/.kde/share/apps/kmail/mail folders over to /data, and changed the ~/.kde/share/config/kmailrc file to point kmail at the new mail folder (/data/computer/Common/mail). Kmail in each OS now looks...
Yes - same identity settings as in the desktop KMail which works fine. Donald
I have a problem with KMail that I haven't come across before. I recently had to reinstall Kubuntu 6.06 on my laptop and every time I try to send an email I get the following message - <Sending failed: Message sending failed since the following recipients were rejected by the server: p (The server responded: "<p>: Recipient address rejected: need fully-qualified address") The message will stay in the 'outbox' folder until you either fix the problem (e.g. a broken address) or remove the message f...
I've checked the permissions and they're all fine. Donald
Thanks for the idea. However, the kmailrc file shows folders as pointing to the right folder. The folder is empty but kmail still shows 17 mails in the inbox with nothing visible in the messages pane. Donald
Hello, I'm running Kubuntu 6.06 and KDE 3.5.3. I recently had to reinstall Kubuntu on my laptop. I copied my home folder first onto a USB memory stick, and copied this into the new home folfer under the new installation. Everyhing has gone fine, apart from - in KMail I have receive incoming emails and a number appears after 'inbox' to show how many. The pane which lists the messages however is completely blank. The .kde/share/apps/kmail/mail inbox file is empty. I'm guessing that kmail has put t...
Fixed it! So simple I could kick myself. In KMenu Edit simply go to KMix and there is an option to add it to the system tray!! That's the nice thing about Linux - easy solutions to problems but you can go round in circles for a while trying to find them. It all adds to the fun. Donald
Sorry I should have said all this in the first post. I'm running SuSE 9.1 with KDE 3.3. The sound mixer is missing completely from the list but I do have KMix and KAMix installed. They are both there under the KMenu n the Multimedia section. I run KMix and it will then appear in the system tray but on rebooting has disappeared again. Donald
Ah! I've just tried your solution. A little problem. There is no sound mixer listed among the applets that I could add. How can I get the mixer back in the list? Donald
Brilliant! So simple. I should of thought of it. Many thanks. Donald
Hello, I've managed to delete volume control from the list of desktop applets. How can I get it back? Donald
A pleasure, glad it worked OK. Donald
I had the same problem. You need to be able to reset the default session type for root. You may have a button on your login screen that allows you to do this - a drop down selection which lets you select kde. If not, as with me, then you need to change the kdmrc file - in /opt/kde3/share/config/kdm/. This should have a section headed [X-:*-Greeter]. In it set the AdminSession = to blank (delete whatever is after the and set HideMenu=false. This should restore the drop down menu and then you can ...
I decided to go down a different route - updated my KDE through YaST and installed all the KDEedu. KStars was included and works fine. Ah well. Donald
Yes, both are installed. Forgive my lack of experience, where do I find the config.log? Donald
I've already done that and it has no effect - still get the same error. Could it be that the configure is looking in the wrong place for the c++ ? Donald
Sorry Scribbler - I should have said I have already downloaded gcc (and make, and glibc) as I neeed them for other packages I have downloaded and installed. Donald
Hello, I'm running KDE 3.3 on SuSE 9.1 Personal. I have tried to download and install Kstars from the KDE-Apps.org site. During ./configure I get the following error - configure: error: Your Installation isn't able to compile simple C++ programs. Check config.log for details - if you're using a Linux distribution you might miss a package named similiar to libstd++-dev. I have installed the libstdc++-3.3.3-41.i586.rpm from the ftp.gwdg.de site but I still get the error and cannot install Kstars. ...
Thanks for that - it worked. So simple, I should have thought of it. Donald
Hello, I've just installed SuSE 9.1 Personal. A simple question - how can I get the Konqueror bookmarks toolbar to be on by default? Whenever I start Konqueror, only the main and location toolbars are showing. I right click for toolbar menu and select bookmarks toolbar, and it appears. But I have to do this every time I go into Konqueror. It would be nice to have the toolbar showing automatically. Donald
