Applying patches for KDE 3.2.2 on Solaris

Where can I get specific instructions on applying the patches from http://ftp.plig.org/pub/kde/stable/3.2.2/contrib/Solaris/8/patches directory using xdelta. Whatever information I've found has been vague since I'm not familiar with the procedures or what exactly the expected output should be. Thank you, ErickC

Kde 3.1.4 of solaris 9

Hello, I just recently did a clean install of solaris 9 on a Sun Ultra 60 with the standard audio. I have so far come across a couple of issues regarding cd and audio playback. 1. The cd plays but no sound comes out of the speaker. When looking at kmix, the cd muting button is ON but when I try to unmute it, it simply goes back to mute mode. 2. When I tried to play mp3 files using either Noatun or kaboodle, the playback sounds like "interference". Wave files play correctly. 3. Sometimes when I b...

what is exactly is required (from our end) i.e. time, experience/knowledge and/or availability? currently I'm traveling but I'm actually waiting for the release of 3.1.4 for solaris 9 since I will be running/testing it on sparc systems. depending on what "duties" are called for, I think it would be a cool hobby to consider. I'll check further...thanx for your responses...even though I've worked with solaris, I've never used a desktop environment other than cde until now. One last Q, has anyone installed the 3.1.3 release built on Forte? Erick

kde on solaris 9

Actually, I take back the last quote regarding libjpeg. Solaris installs a jpeg library by default and it also installs gnome 2.0.2 as the window mgr. I noticed that in gnome, I can view jpeg previews and use them as backgrounds. So maybe that jpeg library is different in some way to the one kde needs?? Erick

Kde on Solaris 9

I did not do any compiling. Everything that was installed was from the Solaris 9 CD companion after installing the full oem of the OS. I downloaded the version mentioned of kde (and Koffice) from sun.com since the cd companion has version 3.1 not 3.1.1a. If compiling might be an issue then I have this questions? The companion cd can install both gcc 2.95.3 and 3.2 in which I did but would it be better to just install version 3.2 only? I just noticed that the sun cd companion does not have a list...

KDE on Solaris 9

Hello, I just finished installing KDE 3.1.1a on a Sun Ultra5 360 with 384 mb of ram running a clean install of Solaris 9 (8/03 distribution). At this point, I haven't done too much probing but I've stumbled on two problems. The first is that I cannot configure the desktop background with a jpeg image. I can use a png file and see the preview just fine. For the jpg file though, the preview shows as a broken file (using the 'browse' button) and choosing the file does nothing. I can see jpeg images...
