Okay i downloaded all the rpms in the ftp how do i go about installing them - that satisfies the dependancies? because i'm bound to get a.rpm needs b.rpm and b.rpm needs c.rpm but then c.rpm needs a.rpm then i'm left going in a cycle. How do i solve these stupid dependencies? Cause YUM and apt were supposed to do that - and so far all they have done so far is waste my time isntead of save me time. there really needs to be a governing body on how "official" linux stuff goes about doing things lik...

when i do "apt-get update" it seems to work fine spends a lot of time downloading things but then [root@localhost sources.list.d]# apt-get install kde Reading Package Lists... Done Building Dependency Tree... Done Some packages could not be installed. This may mean that you have requested an impossible situation or if you are using the unstable distribution that some required packages have not yet been created or been moved out of Incoming. Since you only requested a single operation it is extre...

I tried installing using the apt-get method because i thought it would take care of the dependencies for me but all i go were errors when i tried to install it. I also tried updating Qt to the 3.1 but that also gave me some dependancy errors. I hate all these dependency stuff for rpms - they never end can anyone help me get KDE 3.2 on my system up and running? Thanks

powering down display

hi it doesnt totally blackout i can still see "shadows" or kinda like a heavy tint of what was on the screen before i "emulate" closing the laptop (i press down that thing where the laptop lid is supposed to press down to tell it that its closed) is that just a result of the LCD having its power cut off and not having a chance to blank itself before powering down?

Microsoft

I think M$ did a great job in making PCs easy to use and bringing it into most homes and into main stream soceity. As much as i dont like them because of their recent actions and buggy software i have them to thank for opening up the PC world to me. When I first started using computers, it was back in the DOS era and i only used it to play games like Galaxian and stuff. When windows 95 came around i started to explore more and more into my computer. And now it has led me into exploring Linux (ca...
