Merged menubar and titlebar

I found an interesting screenshot at the following URL: http://www.webupd8.org/2011/02/unity-moc…-in-window.html The above article shows a screenshot of Kwin with menubar and titlebar merged. I haven't been able to find any option in systemsettings to get my window titlebar look like that. The style is default oxygen so its not a special add-on style that does it. Question: does anyone know how to merge menu with the titlebar? It looks cool and saves screen space too Thanks.

Support embedded images in Kmail signatures

I feel image support is sorely missing from Kmail HTML signature (upto 4.3 SVN 20th April 2009). What is surprising is that when composing a message, one can embed an image in the message. Why has this feature been omitted from signature? Otherwise, the Kmail is leaps and bounds ahead of both Evolution and Thunderbird. Hence, I propose to add image support to Kmail signature.

IMAP REFERRAL error

Hi, My IMAP server at work has switched to REFERRAL scheme where it redirects the IMAP request to another server. The trouble is, my standard login procedure does not work anymore. KMail gives me the following error: Authorization failed, Unable to login. Probably the password is wrong. The server SERVER1 replied: [REFERRAL imap://DOMAIN%2FUSERNAME;AUTH=*@SERVER2/] The requested mailbox is not available on this server. authentication not supported Until sometime ago, SERVER1 was the mail server,...

[Kontect] Sync with Microsoft Exchange

Exchange support is very much present in Konqueror. I went here for guidance and am now a happy Kontact <-> Exchange guy at work! http://wiki.kde.org/tiki-index.php?page=…xchange+plug-in

Konqueror and playing multimedia off the web

Hi, I am grappling at the moment with configuring KDE to play streaming media off the web. First question: Why is it that a plugin/embedded player that works in Firefox does not work in Konqueror. Secondly, in konqueror itself, how do I configure playing of streaming media. I mean I know of Settings --> Configure Konqueror --> File Associations and have tried endlessly to install every player and tell konqueror about it but nothing seems to work. Is there a tutorial that can help me with this? F...

Logout from desktop

I have noticed that logging out from KDE takes a loooong time. When I choose to logout/restart/shutdown etc from either K->Log Out ... or from the desktop menu, the screen goes blank and I can see the klaptop applet icon in the left top corner. This stays for a rather long time before the desktop logs out ... Is there a fix / workaround for this? Thanks.

Kontact/Kmail and MS Exchange

But then, I would need the password for the other user's account as well. This is not required when trying to access from Outlook. I believe there is a config on the server that grants access on a shared mailbox to users. How do we get Kmail to read that grant / privilege?

Kontact/Kmail and MS Exchange

Hi, I am trying to access my exchange mailbox from Kmail. I can see all my subscribed folders quite well. However, there is a shared mailbox that does not appear in the list. Most user requests for db changes (its a dba mailbox) drop in the shared mailbox. Is there a way to access shared mailboxes in Kmail? Maybe the terminology is confusing but the folder that I am talking off appears in Advanced settings of Outlook and its titled 'Other user's mailbox'. Thanks.

KDE Fonts

The fonts you speak of in Firefox (at least) have nothing to do with KDE. You might want to install gtk-qt engine so that your GTK apps (which Firefox is) have similar look and feel to KDE/Qt ones. Search for gtk-qt on kde-look.org and/or kde-apps.org. If you are using SuSE, it should be available from YaST.

Where is the Konqueror plugin directory

Quoted Original von scanwinder Konqueror sux as a web browser..... Although its strictly personal perference, I think Konqueror scores over Mozilla in some areas. Its lightning fast and starts up quicker (since you are working in KDE) and supports tons of local and web protocols. In fact, the last one is the reason why I prefer it over Mozilla/Firefox. Saves me the trouble of starting several apps for different protocol access :-)

Netmeeting plugin

A similar functionality can be offered by the Kopete plugin 'Netmeeting', although I haven't tried it yet but it shows up in the kopete that comes with KDE 3.3 beta2. The description says 'Use Gnomemeeting with MSN Messenger' and if it works as promised, it would be a step ahead of phonegaim since this would now allow audio as well video chat! In fact, I would like someone to reply about their experience with this plugin of kopete!! Thanks.

Configuring internet connection using KPPP

I recently downloaded Ark Linux (at an internet cafe) and was trying to setup an internet connection at my home with an external serial 56k modem. After configuring all the settings, KPPP fails to initialize the modem. When configured using wvdial, it works perfectly alright. Even using a tool such as redhat-config-network, it works ok. Now the problem is that default ark linux does not include either wvdial or a tool such as redhat-config-network. Also, the problem seems to be with KPPP since e...

KOffice it is!

Quoted Original von Anonymous KOffice doesn't seem as featured to me as OpenOffice.org. Either that, or I just can't find the features and they're hidden somewhere, which means that the developers should them make them more conspicious. Although you may be right, I find OpenOffice a trifle bloated compared to KOffice. Also, moving away from M$ paradigm is advisable since otherwise we are chasing M$Office 97 -> M$O 2000/XP whatever....all the time. KOffice supports M$Office documents and yet is ...

Great start!

Its a very sane idea since most distros are packed with libraries and stuff that's pure overhead, especially if you're working in one desktop only all the time. Ok, above philosophy aside  , how can I contribute to your effort?
