Hello, This is my problem, when I log in to linux ( I use slackware 8.1 with kde 3.1), on the command promt I see who I am and in which directory I am. I also see the files in diferent colors. However if I startkde, and I go to console the prompt that I got is bash-2.05# and nothing else When I change directory it doesn't show and all is black and whit and doesn't show my user name. KDE 3.1 on slackware

Er.. Me again, sort it. The problem was that I didn't download the proper modules ie: kdesk-3.1.tar I had kdesk-3.1-i386-1.tgz When I decompress the first the folder was created and the ./configure worked. Thanks

I'm using slackware 8.1 In fact kde3.1 is up and running but only because arts, kdelibs and kdebase were configured and make and make install. That was quite stright forward, my problem is that when I try to install the other packages like kdenetwork and kdemultimedia.
