I created a key with the wizard in Kgpg and I can now encrypt documents... questions is... how can someone decrypt them ? I want to send an email to a friend, if I understand correctly I need to send him my public key ? If I am not mistaken, how do I do that ? How will he decrypt it if he uses Windows ?
Hi, every time I open KDE, Kopete also starts and I don't use Kopete. How can I make it so that Kopete won't start with KDE. This happened after the first time I opened Kopete to have a look at it.

Hi, when I use the file finder, there is a use index check box. If I click on the ? button then on the checkbox it says something like : use index blah blah blah, you must run updatedb from time to time. Well once I had this checked but not anymore. Still at seemingly random intervals my machine gets really slow, when this happens if I check my process tables updatedb is there taking up valuable cpu time. When updatedb isn't running my machine is faster. How do I make it so updatedb just don't s...
It can't be lack of disk space since I have over 20 gigs free on that partition...
Is there a way to disable KGET ? I have it since version 3.1.2 but it started acting up and I have problems downloading files. I think if it can be disabled it would solve my problem. I am getting Could not write to filename.part every time I download a file so I must always open files instead of downloading or saving them.
Have you tried using KDM instead of XDM to see if that makes a difference ? That could tell us somethings. You should also try posting on the Gentoo forums.
Have you change your rc.conf file ? If not try nano -w /etc/rc.conf Look at the end of the file you should see somewhere where it is written #XSESSION=Gnome Change this to XSESSION=KDE-3.1.4 Replace 3.1.4 with your version of KDE. Maybe you could have more meaningful awnsers in the Gentoo forums under Destop Environments.
I was wondering, are dual monitors supported in any way in KDE or XFree ? I use KDE and I have a second video card lying around. If it's possible like in windows to have multiple monitors I would buy another monitor. But I don't want to invest in another monitor just to find out that multiple monitors can't be done and I am now the proud owner of a disconected monitor which sits turned off on my desk.
No problem, thanks anyway. Maybe it just can't be done... That seems to be the case. A wanted images to be opened in kuickshow when in the file browser so they can be opened fullscreen and in konqueror while browsing the web becuase it is not only more natural but also, because so images can't be loaded externally with kview or kuickshow but seem to work when opened internally in konqueror.

I know how to make it so that images or either opened in the embeded viewer or in another viewer. There is an option in the control center. But is it possible to have Konqueror as a file browser opening images in a seperate viewer and Konqueror as a web browser opening images in the embeded viewer ?
I always had problems with the Kweather applet it never worked in 3.0 I decided to try it in 3.1 I selected a station close to me, it said it could'nt find any data. When I logged off and reloged in KDE, after KDE starts it brings an error message box from Kweather. Then all of the taskbar ( or start menu bar or wathever ) does not work when I click on it. Actually Altough I haven't tried it, the link I provided seems to provide such a task bar. I have only seen Mac OSX in action for a short time tough, so I don't remember all the specifics of the task bar, but I think that's what he may be looking for.

Hum, im not getting any transparency when using what you described but I remember I could do it before. Also I can't get not transparency in the Konsole tough I could before. It worked under 3.0 but I never really used it and now it's the first time I tried since 3.1 and it doesn't work anymore. I am using Keramik window decoration, Keramik Style, Defaults Icons, Default theme.
